Are we a country whose democracy is active, or are we at a point where our democracy is approaching a state of inaction?

Regardless of personal political viewpoint, many of our citizens believe the United States is at a crossroads.
Will we, or should we, remain a superpower?
What is our economic future?
How do we meet our citizens' basic human needs?
Will our population have access to affordable healthcare?
Will our environment be clean and healthful?
What will insure our citizens have freedom to choose their leaders and have their voices heard?
How do we function in a world economy demanding increased consumer consumption while our planet requires conservation?
How will we provide our children with the necessary skills and education to thrive in an increasingly complex world?
Clearly no one has answers to all the above questions; it is doubtful any of us has a workable solution to any single major problem. But we all have ideas. The purpose of this blog is to provide a forum where creative ideas may be shared, discussed and debated.
