  1. If America adopted natural gas as the primary fuel for vehicles, the cost benefits and health/air pollution benefits would be enormous. Because the mileage obtained from gasoline and CNG (compressed natural gas) is similar, our cheaper natural gas could reduce fuel costs significantly. CNG is now selling in Utah for about $ 1.28 compared to about $ 4.00 for gasoline The $ 1.28 includes a 50 cent federal credit but even at $ 1.78, it is a huge savings. Because our natural gas supplies are vast, dollars spent on it as a fuel stays in America and are recirculated into our struggling economy. In addition, natural gas produces significantly fewer dangerous emissions. For example, natural gas reduces carbon monoxide emissions over 90-97%, according to the EPA. Our almost 300 million vehicles are thirsty, we need money and clean air, our own natural gas could be the solution.
