Are we a country whose democracy is active, or are we at a point where our democracy is approaching a state of inaction?

Cost of the “Progress”

Unchecked growth.

Economists and politicians are talking about the need to "grow our economy" This blind addiction to growth remind me of hoards of locusts dying after devouring their food supply until their is nothing left for their sustainability.
I hope eventually humanity will come to it's senses. I hope.

But recent events dashed whatever remains of my optimism. In a radio interview with Voice of Christian Youth America, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) argued that his belief that global warming is a hoax is biblically inspired. Promoting his bookThe Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future, Inhofe told interviewer Vic Eliason on Wednesday that only God can change the climate, and the idea that manmade pollution could affect the seasons is “arrogance

Today: Senate Democrats blocked a Republican-backed move Wednesday to scrap EPA regulations on mercury and toxic chemical emissions from coal power plants, unswayed by the contention that the rules are killing jobs, not saving lives. (Senator)Inhofe warned senators that by voting against his measure, "you are effectively killing coal in America."

Opponents said the regulations will improve the health of hundreds of thousands of Americans made ill by toxic chemicals spewed by coal-fired plants. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates the rules will prevent 11,000 premature deaths a year.

Below is a good example for you what will happen if Rpublicans will get what they want

Below are images from  the "new" China, one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Is this what we call "PROGRESS" ?  Is that what we call "growing the economy"?

China abandoned the  5000 years of philosophy and spirituality that made it great and replaced it with  Western wastefulnss and short-sighted consumerism; a substitution that will eventually lead to its self-destruction.

We forget and ignore that the Earth is not ours for taking.
Mindless consumption by humans is treated by Earth as a natural disaster; our planet will try to rid itself of this plague. Experts warn us that unless we change course, the perfect storm of population growth, dwindling resources and climate change has the potential to converge in the next century with catastrophic results.
