Are we a country whose democracy is active, or are we at a point where our democracy is approaching a state of inaction?

The End of an Era.

Rise of Fascism in the USA.

American President?

Leader no more.

A backward country.

Why am I writing this? It is not the first time I've written about our current American President. Will my opinion, my writing, change anything? I don't know. But I cannot be silent. It is too important. For me, for my family, for my kids and grand kids, for our country and for the world.

We have an impostor for president, my friends. And he poses danger for all of us.

Dark forces. Trump is just a symptom.
There are forces that want to wreck havoc in the free world. Forces of darkness and destruction.
Putin's Russia is the main force behind the problems in Europe and America.
Iran Theocracy that sees the democracies as a danger to Iran's Islamic rule.
Terrorist organizations around the world for whom Western democracies pose an existential threat.

Trump's America.

And now with Trump's election these forces are in power in our country.
Trump is just a puppet, a useful idiot. People who control these destructive events inside our country are Steve Bannon, Steven Miller and some other unscrupulous characters hiding behind the scenes.
This movement started long before Trump's election.
This destructive process aimed to destabilize American institutions is possibly due to the treasonous behavior of the Republican party. It enabled Trump and this anarchist gang to pursue it's own agenda of breaking down the social institutions in the US and establishing a social Darwinism.
The GOP is working for the upper 1% who's only motivation is self enrichment.
Here is a list of Trump “achievements” during 4 months of his presidency.
Betraying our allies. Think about it. Two major international deals that took several years to build are destroyed in a blink of an eye.

The TPP agreement

TPP in a nutshell: Twelve countries that border the Pacific Ocean signed up to the TPP in February 2016, representing roughly 40% of the world's economic output.

The pact aimed to deepen economic ties between these nations, slashing tariffs and fostering trade to boost growth. Members had also hoped to foster a closer relationship on economic policies and regulation. The agreement was designed so that it could eventually create a new single market, something like that of the EU. http://www.bbc.com/news/business-32498715. With backing out of TPP Trump gave China the green light to step in and practically take over these Asian countries that were looking to the closer ties with the US for protection from China's aggressive behavior in the region.

Paris agreement. What is the Paris Agreement?

Governments agreed: A long-term goal of keeping the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels; to aim to limit the increase to 1.5°C, since this would significantly reduce risks and the impacts of climate change; on the need for global emissions to peak as soon as possible, recognizing that this will take longer for developing countries; to undertake rapid reductions thereafter in accordance with the best available science. https://assemblyinbrief.wordpress.com/2016/04/04/the-paris-agreement-on-climate-change-a-summary/

With cancelling both agreements America stepped aside offering China to take the lead And China did! The next day, after Trump betrayed the world and junked the Paris accord, Merkel was talking to China and both expressed their determination to fight global warming.
Germany sees a better future with China, not the US.
NAFTA is in danger. The wall between Mexico and US.

Relations with Mexico are severely damaged due to Trump's offensive, anti-Mexican rhetoric and his intention to build his stupid “great” wall.

Anti-immigration policies and rhetoric scared away tourists and professionals.

Anti-EU inflammatory blubbering angered the Europeans and forced them to look elsewhere for trade deals and security cooperation. Europe is looking to Asia and the Americas. In other words we are forcing the world to find the ways to function without the US.

Loss of Credibility by negating all previous agreements.

Unsubstantiated accusations of our closest allies of being dishonest

Alienating Australia

Damage done inside our Country. (probably the most damage has occurred within our country)

Dismantling the environmental protections.

The Great Lakes are one of America’s most overlooked and underappreciated national assets boasting a multi-billion dollar boating, shipping, fishing, recreational and tourism economy. The Lakes support 1.5 million jobs and $62 billion in wages per year, which is why reports that the White House plans to slash the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative in the EPA budget by 97 percent is not only environmentally devastating but a shortsighted plan that will cost jobs and sink the economies of the Great Lakes communities that have fought their way back. http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/energy-environment/322769-cuts-to-the-great-lakes-restoration-initiative-a-plan

Discouraging cleaner energy development and use. And guess who is investing in green energy?

China!

“China would create more than 13 million jobs in the renewable energy sector by 2020, curb the growth of greenhouse gasses that contribute to global warming and reduce the amount of soot that in recent days has blanketed Beijing and other Chinese cities in a noxious cloud of smog.

Ignoring education. Due to technological advances new skills are needed.

Not only do firms in these areas have higher requirements on job openings, they also appear to hire workers with more skills. At the same time, these same firms appear to be investing more in an effort to retool their firms. To Hershbein and Kahn, these signs all point to firms in these areas adjusting to the recession by increasing investment in technology and skills as part of a longer-term trend in the economy. The two authors also point out this trend is continuing despite a tightening labor market in recent years as seen in the data up to the end of 2015. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2016/11/us-employers-are-looking-for-more-highly-skilled-workers-than-before-the-recession-finds-research

The beacon of the free world. What we were.

Not because of the military power...but the idea - the American experiment. A dream that was becoming a reality.

Brain drain

The best and the brightest were attracted to the American dream.
America that supported freedoms around the world.
America that stood by friends and allies no matter what the cost.
America that looked out not just for America but for all.

This America is disappearing, disintegrating.

Democracy cannot be taken for granted. Democracy is a society based on involvement of all members of a society. Democracy is fragile and needs constant care, like a flower that withers without nourishment.

Signs of democracy in decline

The first factor was public support: How important do citizens think it is for their country to remain democratic? The second was public openness to nondemocratic forms of government, such as military rule. And the third factor was whether “antisystem parties and movements” — political parties and other major players whose core message is that the current system is illegitimate — were gaining support.https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/29/world/americas/western-liberal-democracy.html?_r=0

What does not kill us makes us stronger.

Trump's election awakened Americans, scared and outraged many. It nudged to action, it made clear for many that apathy brought this crisis in our American Democracy.

The Trump presidency energized all who care about this country. People became active, many did it for the first time in their lives.

So there is reason for optimism...if we all fight the disastrous Republican agenda to move our country back to social Darwinism and away from protection of the environment.
